Yellow Jacket Christmas Classic Standouts Part 1
Hoke County Senior Forward Silas Love: This was bigtime night event for Silas especially their matchup with Overhills HS where he would go for 25 points, pulling down a high amount of rebounds and blocking shots all game. He scored his 1,000th career point and showed everyone in attendance why the folks at UNCP are looking forward to having him.
Northwood Junior Guard Justin Brower: They say the midrange game is no longer in existence but after watching Justin play, we can conclude that the statement is untrue. He knocked down a high amount of shots from the midrange area with confidence and consistency.
Western Harnett Junior Forward Anthony Brewington: To be honest, he looks and plays the game like he’s a grown man. Inside the paint he is an absolute bruiser, creating contact to get to the foul line as well as playing through that same contact to finish plays.
Overhills HS Senior Wing Pedro Gama: Every team needs a shooter and that’s what he brings for his team. He can shoot the deep ball at a nice rate but always makes the correct play and doesn’t force plays.
East Chapel Hill Senior Center Loic Sine: A very raw player who doesn’t get a ton of touches or minutes but will be a youngster that a coach may want to take a look at as a project guy. At 6’7 you can see why a JUCO or even Prep school program could possibly want to keep an eye on him, it doesn’t seem as if he’s been playing the game for a very long time but he is coachable.
Western Harnett Senior Guard Jamar Butler: Jamar has a gift for scoring the ball and it showed on this night. He had the midrange and deep ball going nicely and his teammates made sure to find him in his hot spots.
Western Harnett Senior Forward James Taylor: One of the hardest workers that we got to the chance to see at the event, he brings a high amount of effort and energy which provides his team with extra possessions.
