Wednesday’s WNC Match-Ups
Here is a look at some of the match-ups going on in Western North Carolina tonight.
Ren DyerPolk County (2-4) at North Buncombe (6-0)-Nobody is having quite the season that 2019 Ren Dyer is putting together at North Buncombe High School. He had 23 points and 17 rebounds last night in a win and has The Blackhawks rolling. This one should go to North Buncombe in a fairly easy one.
Enka (6-1) at Pisgah (2-3)-This is always a good game, the Pisgah Bears are tough and well coached. Enka has two of the best 2019 prospects in the area with Jay Walton (6-6) and Jake Smith (6-1). Smith scored 46 points earlier in the season and has put up numerous 20-point games. This one should go to The Jets as they look to move to 7-1.
Reynolds (5-1) at Mountain Heritage (1-0)-This may be the best game of the week. Reynolds has some firepower with 2018 point guard Isaiah Pruett who is averaging close to 30 points per game. Mountain Heritage is young but are loaded. 2020 guard Callin Randolph may be one of the best shooters in the state for the loaded 2020 class.
North Henderson (5-3) at Asheville (4-3)-North Henderson is still playing strong since losing two players off of last years’ squad that are playing college basketball. Asheville High School features another one of the top 2020 guards in the area in Tyrese Thompson. Senior guard Logan Warren is a threat to shoot it as soon as he walks into the gym. Famous Pasley is a do-it-all player for the Cougars.
Avery County (5-2) at West Caldwell (1-2)-West Caldwell is a little down this season but have a really good guard in 2020 Jaylen Ellerbe. UNC-Asheville recruit Deacon Heath is one of the best scorers in Avery County history and he will bring points for Avery. This one should swing in Avery County’s favor.
