North Louisiana has some big contest on the hardwood this week. Some of these match ups would be must see action during summer, so they are definitely games worth catching during the season.

Notable Tuesday High school games:

Airline vs Huntington. Perennial 1-4A power Huntington led by a group of talented guards will attempt to stop defending 1-5A champion Airline led by 6’4″ combo guard Trenton Ivy. Airline has gotten off to a slow start at just 5-6. The team hopes Ivy, along with 6’3” PF Louis Greenard, will lead them to a key non-district win and back to .500.

Woodlawn (Shreveport) vs Evangel. Senior Malik Cooper (6’3″ combo guard) leads the Evangel Eagles in this tilt against 1-4A power Woodlawn. His senior savvy will be needed to fight against Woodlawn’s talented backcourt of senior Larry Moton and junior PG Tra’michael Moton. Woodlawn is 10-2 so far this season and will be looking to show why they are a top 10 team in their class.

Ouachita Parish vs Bossier.  This game has all the makings of a classic.  College coaches might have this game marked as one of their must see contest in the early season.  2-5A’s Ouachita travels west on Interstate 20 to take on the Bossier Bearkats coached by Nick Bohanon.  The Lions will have to lean heavily on 6’7″ senior Willie LaPoole and 6’3″ point guard Kendarrius Wallace if they are going to pull off the upset in the Bearkats gym.  Bossier is led by 6’7″ super sophomore Donte Bell and do-it-all point guard Jacoby Decker.  The big man battle should be one that will be talked about for weeks to come.

B.T. Washington vs North Caddo.  The #7 ranked team in class 2A North Caddo Rebels will host the Booker T. Washington Lions who will be driving up from Shreveport.  The Lions will rely on the stellar guard play of Letravion Jones to pull of the win.  Senior wings Chris Thomas (6’5″) and Re’chard Hill (6’3″) will most likely have something to say about the outcome.  Both players have leaping ability not matched by any tandem in the area.

Other top Tuesday games:

  1.  West Monroe at Wossman
  2.  Bastrop at Carroll
  3.  Natchitoches Central at Loyola Prep
  4.  Richwood at Neville
  5.  Union Parish at Ruston
  6.  Richwood at Neville
