Trinity vs Fayetteville Academy: What we learned
Trinity Christian Junior Guard Talton Jones is one of the best defenders in the state: Trinity struggled scoring the ball for a good portion of the game this night so defense was the key for them to pull off a win and Talton came up big time. In the 2nd half he came up with multiple steals, deflections and blocked shots to help get the momentum on the Crusaders side.
Joey Baker went to work in the 2nd half: He had a quiet first half and was hampered with foul trouble which kept him from getting much rhythm offensively. In the 2nd half is where he really went to work on both ends, including a big time baseline dunk and a fast break highlight dunk that made the crowd get out of their seats.
D1 programs need to be recruiting Fayetteville Academy Junior Williams Udoka: He plays the game with a high motor and understands how to utilize his upper body strength to get where he wants. In the 1st and 4th quarter is where he did the most damage combining for 13 out of 17 of his points in those periods.
Fayetteville Academy Junior Forward/Center Emmanuel Izunabor is a walking double/double: Although he only scored 10 points, Emmanuel did a tremendous job rebounding the ball. He’s the type of player that has the attitude that every rebound belongs to him and it shows when you look at his rebounding numbers after each game.
Trinity Christian Junior Guard KJ Marshall is a sleeper prospect – KJ provided some much needed perimeter shooting for the squad as most of the team started off the game cold. He brought consistent effort and has a strong desire to win, you can see that he has put in a good amount of time in the offseason getting his body right.
Fayetteville Academy Junior Guard EJ Bethea can shoot it: EJ has transitioned into the Fayetteville Academy system well and knocked down some big time shots from midrange and three point land, finished with 10 points on the night.
Trinity Christian Junior Guard Audeise Toney is versatile: He can play just about any position for the Crusaders, even though his shot was off, he found ways to be effective and impact the game.
Fayetteville Academy Junior Cam Billups can be a good role player for FA: Billups had some moments of him stepping up and making plays for his squad. He knocked down a huge three pointer in the face of a defender in the 4th quarter when the game was going back and forth.
