Prep Hoops takes a look at some holiday tourneys over the past few days in this article.
The Berkeley HS Stags went onto win the Stag Invitational over Dutch Fork 60-48. Ephraim Butler was named Tourney MVP after scoring 26 points in the Championship Game. Ishawn White added 14 points in the victory over the Silver Foxes. The Stags move to 8-2 on the season heading into region play. Jalin Hyatt led the Silver Foxes with 13 points and Bryce Thompson chipped in with 10 points. Thompson is headed to the University of South Carolina next season to play football. Dutch Fork falls to 5-8 on the season.
Lexington defeated May River 37-32 to win the Modie Risher Classic at Burke HS. Mervo (MD) defeated the Stall HS Warriors in the 5th place game at the Modie Risher Classic 65-53. The Warriors were led in scoring by Romello Grant with 15 points. The host Burke HS Bulldogs defeated Baptist Hill in the 7th place game 44-40.
The Rotary Roundball Classic in North Charleston had plenty of local flare in the event this season.
First Baptist defeated Wando 59-56. Michel Dukes led the Hurricanes with 26 points and Devin Dean added 25 points in the victory.
James Island defeated Oceanside Collegiate 68-60. The Trojans were led in scoring by senior Starke Salmons with 20 points after hitting 5 three pointers. Shane McCravy led the Landsharks with 24 points and Isaiah Archie chipped in with 17 points.
Summerville sneaked by the host North Charleston HS Cougars 81-72. Mark Mazyck led the Green Wave with 23 points while Shaquan Davis added 18 points. Dashawn Murray took high honors for the game at 24 points while Darjawuan Brown added 14 points.
Goose Creek defeated Northwood Academy 53-44. The Gators were led in scoring by Travelle Simmons with 14 points and Erick Bennett added 12 points. Emmanuel Johnson took game honors with 18 points and 14 rebounds for the Chargers.
Porter Gaud defeated St Mary’s Ryken (MD) 61-43. The Cyclones were led in scoring by Vanderbuilt signee Aaron Nesmith with 18 points. Denham Wojcik added 12 points and Yale bound Jake Lanford added 11 points.
