Top Performers: NXT LVL Hoopfest Nashville
On Friday, the final day of NXT LVL Nashville the Championship was on the line. Oak Ridge met Brentwood Academy (6-2) in the final.
7th Place Game: Hopkinsville lost early to the C.P.A. Lions.
5th Place Game: Discovery (GA) vs. Whitehaven.
3rd Place Game: Mt. Bethel (GA) vs. Baptist Prep (AR).
Which players emerged as top performers?
2019 G Bryce McCormick (C.P.A.)
For C.P.A. the burden on Bryce is immense. He runs the offense, rebounds, creates plays, handles defensive pressure, and generally commands the tempo. McCormick scored 14 points (7-10 FT’s), but as always his contribution came largely from composure and ball-handling.
2018 G Matt Dial (C.P.A.)
The Lions opened up their first half lead with hot shooting from Matt Dial. The senior finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds. His 7-14 shooting helped C.P.A. capture their first win of the event.
2021 G Alijah Watts (Hopkinsville)
A quick guard, Alijah Watts played formidably in Hopkinsville’s third loss in as many days. Watts scored 15 points. He did take 15 shots to do it. The four turnovers hurt, but Watts collected five rebounds, four assists, and two steals too.
2018 WG Cameron Jones (Whitehaven)
For a team that has relentless defense, but significant scoring droughts, Cameron is always there to create points from thin air.
2020 G Jesse Payne (Whitehaven)
Hot shooting from Jesse Payne helped the Tigers run up a few scoring bursts Friday. Payne plays on and off the ball for Whitehaven. Promising prospect.
