Recruiting Report: Tyrese Shines (2019)
Lyons Township 2019 combo guard Tyrese Shines stands at 6’3” with long arms and a strong upper body. He has definitely added strength since we saw him last season. Another area that he has shown some growth is in his perimeter shot. Knocking them down pulling up off the bounce. Mechanics looking good. Sometimes he can lean forward on his release. Most of his scores come in the paint and by using his quick second jump in the paint. Solid rebounding combo guard.
He spoke about his early season play.
“I think I am meeting my full potential. I put in a lot of work this summer. I feel don’t feel like I’m all the way there yet. I know I will do that.”
Where has he seen the most improvement since last season?
“I feel like my mid-range has gotten better. Driving to the bucket.”
Shines updated us on his recruitment.
“I have an offer from Lewis University. I have a couple low-majors Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, and Kent State looking at me.”
How was that Eastern Illinois visit?
“I really love the coaching staff. They really like me a lot and I like them a lot. They told me they are going to be looking at me a lot during the season.”
Lewis has extended an early offer.
“I haven’t visited yet, but I talk to the coach and I like them a lot. Hope to visit there soon.”
