Recruiting Report: Sean Houpt (2019)
Danville 2019 Sean Houpt is a competitive combo guard that can shoot the basketball. The lefty has a strong build and gets after it on the defensive end of the floor. Uses his basketball smarts, lateral quickness, and active hands to cause havoc. Crisp passer on the offensive end and can really shoot it off the catch. D2 prospect with low-major upside for sure!
Houpt chatted with PHI about the start to his junior campaign.
“Individually I think I am off to a good start. I am shooting the ball well and playing good defense. I hope I can keep that up.”
What is his role for Danville this season?
“On this team my role is being a shooter and someone that defends at a high level every night. Brings energy, helps with ball handling, and gets on the boards.”
Playing with the Illinois Irish this summer helped prepare him for his junior season.
“It gave me a lot of confidence. Being with the Irish is a great program. It helped expand my game and build my confidence. I played well and we did as a team. It helped a lot going into high school.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I took unofficials to Wofford and Elon. I am getting texts from Princeton and Holy Cross. Navy called me.”
He broke down both of those unofficial visits in the fall.
Elon
“Their campus is really nice. Their style of play fits me well.”
Wofford
“They compete every year and make it to a lot of NCAA tournaments. That is really intriguing about them.”
