Recruiting Report: Juwan Gary (2019)
Gray Collegiate 6’6” small forward Juwan Gary presents a projectable frame and game to play on the wing at the next level. Big time athlete in the transition game and playing in the open floor where he can finish with the best of them. Finishes well around the hoop and in the paint. Inconsistent perimeter shooter, but does have a shot that is clean so he could improve. Snatches rebounds out of the air. High-major prospect. We spoke with him in-depth about his recruiting.
“My latest recruitment is Florida. Kansas State said they want me to come out there for an unofficial visit sometime. Some big time schools are on me. NC State, Maryland, South Carolina, Clemson, Kansas, and others.”
NC State has made him a priority early in the process.
“I could be a big time player for them. Ever since Dennis Smith went to the league they said I could be the next big time player to come out of NC State.”
Clemson is trying to protect the boarder and keep him home.
“I would be a big factor and their main player in the class of 2019. They want to keep me in state so I can make a big environment at home.”
What schools does he want to get out to visit?
“Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas.”
Duke is starting to show initial interest.
“Their assistant Jeff Capel we have a good connection. We have had a good talk. They are going to come down sometime to see me.”
This past fall he visited the in-state programs.
“I went to Clemson and South Carolina.”
What is he looking for on his trips to these schools?
“See how the coach is and how the players produce. See how they can push me harder and to my best potential.”
