Recruiting Report: Jahmir Young (2019)
One of the guys that doesn’t get enough credit on Mike Jones’ 2017-2018 team is 2019 point guard, Jahmir Young. Jahmir is a smaller guy, standing at 6’0, but very important to this team. Whether he is knocking down shots, assisting to his teammates or being one of the best defenders on the team, the lefty has caught my attention on being one of the most important players on this DeMatha team.
Overall he is a great team leader who is a pass first point guard, he can attack the lane when he wants to, hit shots from all over the court and a guy that is always going to be vocal and communicate well with his teammates.
Right now there is not a clear leader in the clubhouse for his recruitment but a number of schools have caught his attention and are in contact with him regularly.
“I have a couple schools that are contacting me but I am just trusting the process and am going to keep grinding.”
When asked which schools he hears from the most, he had this to say, “JMU, ODU, George Mason, Hampton, Coppin State and some other schools like that.”
He broke down some of the schools that really stand out to him.
JMU: “I just picked up an offer from them earlier in the year, like August. They are a great school, they have a great coach, I love the coach and I am looking forward to hearing from them.”
ODU: “I love the coaching staff, I went up there for a camp and I loved it there. The coaches really welcomed me. They talk to me every now and then and I like them a lot.”
George Mason: “It is a really good school, great campus, beautiful campus. I love the coach, he comes to my games sometimes and they have been keeping in touch, also.
Hampton: “They offered last year, they are pretty good. I like the coaches and I hear from them a lot so they should be sticking around.”
