Recruiting Report: Dylan Gregoire (2018)
2018 Venice guard Dylan Gregoire is someone who has stepped up for the Indians in key moments.
The 6’0″, 165-pounder says he learned last season to play at a pace to control the other team and not let them control what he does.
“I’m a very quick and explosive guard, very hard to guard off the dribble, pulling the ball out to get a better look was something that I learned quickly to make our team more successful on each possession,” Gregoire told Prep Hoops Florida. “Having shooters ready to shoot combined with my passing ability made it easier to score at a higher percentage as a team.”
His expectation for this season is to win a district title. Gregoire says the the skill level and athleticism that the team has gives them a chance to compete with anybody.
“We’ve never been this talented at Venice and we all have good chemistry on and off the court, all the guys,” he said. “There’s nothing I would rather do than put a district title up on the banner in our gym, not only for my teammates and I but also my coach who has been one of my biggest supporters along the way.”
This summer, Gregoire played for Impact Elite. He said his role was to be a playmaker and create for others. He considers the group family, saying they all talk every day.
Currently, no firm offers have come yet for Gregoire but he’s drawn a walk-on offer from Nova Southeastern and interest from Wheeling Jesuit and Ave Maria.
In terms of his biggest strengths, Gregoire pointed to his ability to rebound, set up teammates for easy shots, his defense, attack the basket and get to the free throw line.
He wants to continue to improve his jump shot, saying you can never stop getting better at shooting.
“Being a leader and taking control of this team is going to be key in a playoff run for us,” Gregoire said.
A high IQ player, Gregoire doesn’t care how much taller or stronger the player opposite is his goal is always to make you pay. He can score in bunches and Venice will need him to each and every game to hang around. I like the craftiness of this senior guard.
