Recruiting Report: Casey Morsell (2019)
2019 6’2 guard Casey Morsell of St. John’s College High School has turned into a priority recruit with some of the top schools in the DMV area and now some high major schools outside of the region are starting to take note of his talents.
“I have just been working man, just hard work and staying in the gym. With hard work, the game just gets easier so that is really what happened to me.”
Casey is off to a good junior season campaign and has been showing off his ability to score every time I have watched him this year. Each game I have seen Casey play this year, he has been looking to score when he has the ball by either attacking the basket or shooting a jumper from a variety amount of areas on the court. Another part of his game that I am really impressed with his on-ball defense.
“I feel like I can do it all, score the ball at all levels, I can pass and I can defend. I really don’t like to limit myself to one thing so I try to be great at everything.”
After National Hoop Fest, Florida offered Morsell a scholarship, “I really don’t know too much about Florida, I am still getting to know them. After our game against IMG at Hoop Fest, that was the first time I had ever heard from the coach so I am still learning about Florida.
Georgetown is very close to home for Morsell and he recently visited the campus and to see them play Syracuse.
“I definitely like Georgetown, I like what Coach Ewing is doing and I like the playing style there, how fast it is and how everybody gets touches so that is definitely one of my options, no doubt.”
Virginia watched Casey at National Hoop Fest too and Morsell enjoys what the ACC program has to offer, “I definitely like UVA, they are one of my top choices. I like the coaching staff, the culture there is awesome and how they let their players play and how everybody defends and they develop good players, it’s definitely one of my options.”
Casey told us that he hopes to visit Wake Forest soon for a game, “Wake Forest is another one of the schools that I am starting to learn more about. I talk to Coach Manning here and there and I am going down there in two or three weeks to catch a game so I am looking forward to that.”
He recently took a trip to Virginia Tech this fall and likes the Hokies, “I like Virginia Tech, I need to go down there for a game to see the campus more. I went down there for a football game but I want to really see more of the campus.”
