Kentucky assistant coach Joel Justus was in Charlotte this past week to see 2019 Wendell Moore of Cox Mill High School and 2019 F Jae’Lyn Withers of North Mecklenburg High School.
6-foot-2 Point Guard Alex Cox of Cannon School (Concord, NC) committed to Francis Marion (SC).
Marquette will be at Hargrave (VA) next week. Reached out today to 2018 Connor Crabtree about watching him workout.
2019 Point Guard Jalen Benjamin of Leesville Road High School was offered by George Mason University on Wednesday. Benjamin is the son of former NC State star Ishua Benjamin.
Temple University was in this week to see 2019 guard El Ellis of Mt. Zion.
Hoke County High School senior Silas Love has committed to UNC-Pembroke.
Bojangles Bash
Cox Mill High School, Trinity Christian School and Word of God Christian Academy and North Meck HS are the North Carolina teams playing in Columbia, South Carolina this weekend in the Bojangles Bash being help at Ridge View High School. There could be a meeting of Cox Mill High School and North Mecklenburg High School in the finals, which would feature one of NC’s top 4-A teams squaring off against the reigning 3-A champs from North Carolina.
With the coaching change at East Carolina University, we have some updates on signees Mike Wynn and Jayden Gardner. I have spoke with Heritage High School head coach Tilden Brill and he said ” I don’t know what Jayden will do now,” regarding sticking with his commitment or not. A text message to Mike Wynn’s Liberty Height head coach was not returned. Gardner had 36 points and 19 rebounds last night in a win for Heritage High School. He has aa solid shot at landing on a high major program roster.
