Prospect Spotlight: Joe Stubbs (2020)
Santa Fe Catholic earned another gifted athlete via transfer in Joe Stubbs.
The 2020 guard played a year ago at Auburndale but says he made the switch because he played at the five there and with the Hawks, he’s featured at the two or three spots on the floor.
Along with 2020 forward Javon Bell and 2020 guard Ray Davis, a transfer from George Jenkins, the sophomore trio gives Santa Fe Catholic plenty of firepower.
Stubbs says he expects his group to make a deep run in the Class 4A playoffs and make it to the state tournament.
The 6’3″, 178-pounder ran with E1T1 this summer, his first year with the group.
In terms of his biggest strengths, Stubbs pointed to his jump shot and ball handling. He’s aiming to better his game in all facets.
No offers or interest have come yet for the 10th grader, but Stubbs is an athlete who can get up the court fast. As he likes to say, he can “jump out of the gym.”
This video proves his sentiment.
Ultimately, Stubbs is a pace the floor type of player. His ability to run with the best of them will always help him standout. He’s a high energy guy and a nice pairing with a talented Bell. Look for Stubbs to flourish in his first season at Santa Fe Catholic.
