Prospect Spotlight: Ari Boya (2019)
Following a pair of summers playing for Mark Adams’ Indiana Elite AAU program, 7-foot-1 Center Ari Boya is developing into the high upside prospect he was envisioned as since coming to the U.S. from Cameroon.
Now at Scotland Campus Sports (Pa.) under Chris Chaney, the Bradley commit is one of the country’s top-shelf shot blockers. This much was on display during the program’s signature win over IMG Academy (FL) at the National Prep Showcase in New Haven, Conn. last month.
The behemoth rim protector had a tournament best nine blocks, sealing the rim shut. The athletic, rim to rim big also influenced and manipulated and altered the trajectory of countless others.
Indiana Elite head honcho Mark Adams was instrumental in helping Boya get into the country and showcase his skill set against top-tier competition.
Boya showed his loyalty by committing to Bradley, where Adams’ son–Drew Adams–is an assistant coach. Boya became the first ever player to commit to Bradley following his sophomore year.
In transitioning to more of scorer’s role at SCS, Boya has quickly evolved as a catch and finish threat. With an explosive above the rim game, Boya has become a hyper efficiency threat in the trenches.
As a sophomore at guard-laden Conrad Academy in Orlando last year, Boya was more of a defensive threat for a team which rarely fed the post.
With ball-dominant point guard and combo guard David Sloan accounting for a significant percentage of the offense, Boya’s impact on the offensive end was minimal.
He showed flashes during a 25-point, 17-board performance in an end to end 100-29 drubbing of Agape Christian.
He again showed his uber efficiency during a league win against Potter’s House, scoring 16 points on 7-for-8 shooting.
Boya was on constant aerial watch throughout that one, punching home lobs around the rim in theatrical fashion.
With a polished offensive arsenal, Boya has been a go-to source for Scotland Campus. He scored 26 points during a recent win against ICA.
