Prospect Introduction: Maurice Willie (2021)
Maurice Willie is a freshman point guard looking to make an impact.
The 5’7″, 157-pounder is part of Paxon in Class 6A. Last season, he says he learned how to control the temp of the game and read the floor better.
His expectations for this season at Paxon are to help his team win any way possible and contribute when his name is called.
Willie played for Team Jacksonville this summer.
“This past AAU season went great. We participated in the NYBL we were able to play some of the top talents from all around,” Willie told Prep Hoops Florida. “I also played up with the older team it was a challenge but it was fun. The program just started at the beginning of summer.”
No offers have come for the freshman, but he has drawn interest from UNF.
Willie said his ballhandling and shooting improved last season. He wants to make more plays, become stronger and improve his on-ball defense this fall.
Although he’s young and raw, Willie has a strong basketball background and he used the summer to further his skills. He’s part of a Paxon program that is getting better with time. That is something that this 2021 prospect wants to do.
