Player of the Week: Jamal Bey of Bishop Gorman
2018 6’6″ WF Jamal Bey of Bishop Gorman is playing some outstanding basketball in this early season. The Washington Commit has help lead a very young Gorman team to a 9-1 start. This past weekend at the Tarkanian Classic he demonstrated his full arsenal with skill and precision. The Versatile wing made plays consistently to help lead his team, to the Platinum Championship. In a semifinal game against a tough Salesian team that feature one of the top guards in the country (James Akinjo), Jamal Bey scores 18 PTS to get the win.
16 of the Nation’s Top teams entered the Platinum bracket of the Tarkanian Classic. The competition was very competitive, and became very intense at times! Against Centennial Corona,Ca, Mr. Bey came to play pouring in 38 points. He demonstrated his full skill-set, from all three levels. He was attacking the basket with purpose. His pull up game from the mid-range was woking well knocking down shots, from different spots on the floor. At the end of the day, he helped lead his team to a 83-69 win.
The championship game feature Bishop Gorman and the 24th ranked team according to Ballislife Fab50, the Clark Chargers. Both teams represented the city of Las Vegas. Jamal got his rhythm going from the beginning, knocking down two 3’s in the first half. His team finish strong, and never trailed in the game. They took home the victory 69-56. Jamal was name Platinum Tournament MVP averaging 23.8 ppg in the event.
