Palmetto State : Sweet 16 Roundup
Prep Hoops SC takes a look at some of the action around the Palmetto State. Games started tonight at the Sweet 16 in Orangeburg County. Here are some game results from the opening round which was played at 4 different site locations.
Fort Dorchester Patriots had little problem in beating Allendale-Fairfax 72-23. The Patriots improved to 5-3 on the season. The Patriots were led in scoring by Earl Hamilton with 12 points, Antoine Parker 10 points and Ellis Goodwin added 9 points. The Patriots will play Kingstree in the 2nd round tomorrow evening.
The Kingstree Jaguars defeated the host Lake Marion Gators 78-62. The Jaguars will now play Fort Dorchester in the 2nd round tomorrow. Direlle McGee led the Jaguars with 24 points, Quinton Alston 19 points, Koby Fulton and Deontae Allen both added 10 points.
Gershon Robinson led the Gators in defeat with 21 points, Gervaris Wearing added 14 points, while Traveon Davis added 11 points while Tragan Green chipped in 10 points.
Colleton County defeated Swansea 57-51 in the opening round game held at Bethune-Bowman HS. The Cougars were led in scoring by De’iajae Ferguson with 15 points and Nyeem Green chipped in 13 points.
Effix Miller led the Tigers in defeat with 17 points.
Bethune Bowman Mohawks hosted Hanahan HS and held onto a 61-51 win to advance to the Final 8 tomorrow. The Mohawks will play Colleton County while Hanahan will play Swansea.
Manning defeated Hunter-Kinard-Tyler 83-68 in a 1st Round game played at Calhoun County HS. The monarchs were led in scoring by Darius Williams with 18 points and freshman Corey Graham added 15 points and 15 rebounds in the win.
The Trojans have lost 4 in a row now and were led in scoring by Marlow Gilmore with 18 points and Camry James added 10 points. The Trojans will now play Cross Creek (GA) in the consolation bracket.
The host Calhoun County Saints defeated Cross Creek (GA) 64-59. The Saints will play the Manning Monarchs tomorrow at 7:30 P.M. at home in St Matthews.
Orangeburg-Wilkinson had no problems blasting Wade Hampton (Hampton) 70-29. The Bruins were led in scoring by Jordan Snell with 12 points. Frank Lee added 8 points while, Jahnarious Snell and Yohannes Utsey both chipped in with 7 points.
Rashane Duncan led Wade Hampton in the loss with 8 points.
Metrolina Christian (NC) defeated the host Edisto Cougars 58-42 in the opening round of the Sweet 16 Tourney. Jacobe Perry led the Cougars in defeat with 18 points.
