Palmetto State : Stock Risers
Prep Hoops SC takes a look at some kids that we saw there stock rise this past week before the Christmas Holidays. Prep Hoops SC own Bret Swanson took in 3 events between the Savannah River Showcase, Shootout By the Sea and the Panther Classic.
Rayshon Harrison (2020) – Christ Church (Greenville)
Harrison is just a heady player on the floor and knows what to do at all times. Harrison can score the ball from all 3 levels on the floor. Harrison has great court vision and at times seems to be a step too fast fast for some of his teammates. Harrison really keeps the ball on a string and never turns it over.
Omarion Byrd (2020) – North Augusta HS
Byrd saw great minutes last season for the Yellow Jackets as freshman. Byrd is one of the better shooters I’ve seen shoot the ball in my 14 years here in the State of the South Carolina. Byrd a undersized off guard has a quick shot release and believe me it’s quite accurate.
Kamal Desor (2019) – Boiling Springs HS (pictured on front)
Desor is a Run-Jump-Athlete on the Bulldogs. Desor 6’5 is fresh off a MVP Award at the Shootout By the Sea in which the Bulldogs defeated Ridge View HS 46-45. Desor can hit the mid-range jumper and has the ability to extend it behind the 3 point line.
Desor has great length on the defensive side of the ball to defend the passing lanes. Desor really likes to get out in transition and has the ability to excel in transition.
Russell Jones Jr. (2019) – Westwood HS
Jones Jr. is a water-bug point guard who can really get the ball to the basket. Jones Jr.is quick end to end and creates all sorts of havoc on the defensive end with his quick hands. Jones Jr. keeps the ball low to the ground and rarely ever turns the ball over. Jones Jr. at times seems a bit too unselfish in my opinion with the ball.
