The 32nd Annual Pepsi Carolina Classic started yesterday at West Florence HS in Florence. Here is a look at the play in games for the 12 team event.
Darlington 80 vs Crestwood 73 (4 overtimes)
This game seemed like it would never end. Jalian Smith (2018) scored 24 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Falcons in the opening round of the 32nd Annual Pepsi Carolina Classic. Senior Kris’Shawn Hickman added 11 points in the win.
Kwaleek Jones (2018) led the Crestwood Knights with 24 points while junior guard Nazir Andino added 17 points.
Marion 46 vs Lake City 43
The Swamp Foxes won a nail biter to improve to 8-2 on the season under Head Coach Andre Weathers. BJ Blue led the Swamp Foxes with 7 points in the win.
Christopher Patterson and Eric Kennedy led the Panthers in scoring with 16 and 15 points respectively. The Panthers fall to 1-6 on the season.
South Florence 72 vs Cheraw 71 (overtime)
Bruins Assistant Coach Adam Simbeck had to coach this game since Head Coach John Schweitz was not feeling well. The Bruins defeated the Braves to advance to the quarterfinals to play Hartsville today.
Justice Jackson led the way for the Bruins with 18 points while Nick Ford and Korique Rainey both added 13 points. The Bruins 2-6 have already lost to Hartsville twice this season.
Jalen Coit ranked #3 in the 2020 Prep Hoops Palmetto State Class scored 27 points in the loss.
West Florence 53 vs Timmonsville 44
The Knights have won this event the past 3 seasons and now will play number 1 seed North Augusta on Wednesday night.
The Whirlwinds were led in scoring by Rasheim Lyde with 11 points.
