Palmetto State : Pepsi Carolina Classic Day 2
Prep Hoops decided to take in the 2nd Round games from the 32nd Annual Pepsi Carolina Classic at West Florence HS. The tourney consists of 12 teams from mostly around the Pee Dee area of the state with the exception of North Augusta HS.
Lake City 56 Crestwood 52
Kwaleek Jones led the Knights in defeat with 20 points and teammate Jamal Walton added 17 points. Crestwood played with just 6 players today.
Cheraw 85 Timmonsville 45
The back court duo of Jalen Coit and Marshall Myers led the Braves to a easy victory today. Coit scored 27 points while Myers added 20 points.
#3 Hartsville 68 South Florence 55
The Red Foxes trailed 31-30 at halftime to the younger Bruins roster. The Red Foxes pulled away in the 2nd half with the play of Kyron Gray. Gray finished the game with 24 points, Jontavius Blakney added 18 points and junior Trae Hannibal added 10 points.
Brian Sparks led the Bruins with 17 points while Justice Jackson added 16 points. The Bruins have now lost to the Red Foxes 3 times this season.
Marion 50 #2 Hemingway 48
The game of the day went down to 0.2 seconds to decide a winner. Senior Kashawn Rowell hit 2 free throws with the scored tied at 48-48. Rowell led the Marion Swamp Foxes with 22 points in the win.
Darius Taylor led Hemingway in scoring with 12 points. Darius “JuJu” Williams added 11 points and Tyreike Lewis chipped in with 10 points.
Darlington 78 #4 Trinity Byrnes 58
Jalian Smith and Kenynon Scott both led the Falcons in scoring with 16 points. The Titans suffered there first loss of the season were led in scoring by Jordan Jones and LaSauhn McFadden both with 16 points a piece. Terence Mack added 14 points in the defeat.

The Yellow Jackets have ended the Knights 11 game winning streak in the Pepsi Carolina Classic. The Knights had won the event the past 3 seasons until losing tonight in the nightcap.
Omarion Byrd led the Yellow Jackets with 20 points, Bryson Mozone 16 points and Dejuan Bell 13 points.
Sabien Nero led the Knights with 19 points while Sharrod Simmon added 14 points. The Knights will now play Trinity Byrnes for the third time this season in the consolation bracket. Trinity Byrnes has won the previous 2 meetings this season.
