Palmetto State : Bojangles Bash Day 3
Prep Hoops came back for Day 3 of action at the Bojangles Bash in Columbia, SC. The morning started off with West Florence HS playing Ben Lippen. The Knights were on fire as soon as they got on the floor. The Knights jumped out to a lead and never looked back and cruised to a 90-74 victory.
The West Florence Knights were led in scoring by Sabien Nero (2019) with 22 points, Jarrod Woodland (2019) added 17 points on 5 three pointers, Derrion Lloyd added 15 points while Marquise Pemberton chipped in 12 points. The Knights improve to 4-3 on the season. The Knights connected on 12-26 from three point range.
The Knights practically have a whole new team this season. Senior Juan Perez didn’t play as he’s out with a injury. Perez has signed to play at Francis Marion University (SC) (NCAA D2) next season.
The Falcons were led by the guard tandem of Ryan McCray with 29 points and Javian Bellamy scoring 23 points.
Game 2 of the day was a battle with Word of God (NC) vs AC Flora. The Holy Rams based out of Raleigh, NC sneaked out the victory after the Falcons tied it up at the 2:41 mark of the 4th quarter 59-59. The Holy Rams would have just too much fire power down the end and win 69-64.
Word of God had balanced scoring with Aaron Cash leading the way with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Zach Newkirk added 14 points while junior guard Ta’Lon Cooper added 11 points and 8 rebounds. Jamal King and Daquari Futtrell rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 points apiece. Cooper played last season at Spartanburg HS (SC).
The Falcons were led in scoring by sharp shooting guard Derrick Sinkler with 17 points, Zach Foulks added 15 points and Diamante “Bam” Brown added 11 points. The Falcons fell to 5-2 on the season. Daniel Harper-Finney was not in attendance for the game due to a family issue.
