Palmetto State: Bojangles Bash Day 1
Prep Hoops took in Day 1 action from the Bojangles Bash at Ridge View HS in Columbia, SC.
Rock Creek (MD) 50, Ridge View 47
In the second game put the host Ridge View against Rock Creek (MD). The Blazers came out and took a 11-6 lead after the first quarters. In the second Rock Creek went on a 6-0 run after being down 21-10 with five minutes left in the half. Rock Creek Jon Preston hit two three in the run. The Blazers closed the quarters and the half out on a 7-3 to up the lead to 28-19. Wayln Napper led the Blazers 11 points.
The third quarter saw the Blazers increase the lead 19 points at 4:48 left in the third. After the third quarters the Blazers was up 41-29. The fourth was problem the worst-case scenario for the host. Rock Creek came out and cut the lead to four 41-37 before the Blazers. Malcolm Wilson for Ridge View stopped that run with a dunk with 5:00 left in the game. Preston hit a three to cut it 43-40 and receive a technical foul for celebration. Jermaine Harris finally gave Rock Creek the lead with a layup at 47-46 with 1:30 left in the game.
Crosby James-Harris hit two free throws to give the Blazers the lead back at 47-46 with under a 1:37 left in the game. This was the last time that the Blazers would score in the game. Rock Creek would win 50-47.
Kyle Rose of Rock Creek broke the steals record at Bojangles Bash with eight steals. Napper and Crosby-James each scored a game-high 15 points for the Blazers. Preston led Rock Creek with 13 points.
Huntington Prep (WV) 77, Orangeville Prep (CANADA) 61
This was the main course of the night at the Bojangles Bash. Huntington Prep came out an open the game on 5-0 run. The Orangeville Prep went on a 16-6 run to take a 16-11 lead before the Fighting Irish ended the quarter on a 5-0 to end the quarter tied at 16-16. Michael Christmas hit two threes to give Huntington a 21-16 lead to start the second quarter. The Irish ended the half with a 41-24 lead.
In the second half is the same as the same Huntington outscore the Bears 16-11 in the third. The game ended with Orangeville Prep outscored the Fighting Irish 26-20 but it was too late as the final score was 77-6
Dontarius James former Andrew Jackson HS player scored nine points for Huntington Prep. James has signed to play at Xavier University next season. James scored 1,717 career points for the Volunteers.
Marvin Price led the Irish with 15 points. Keshaun Sanders led Orangeville Prep with 15 points.
