Palmetto State : 3rd Annual HTC Tip Off Classic
Prep Hoops SC took in the action from the 3rd Annual HTC Tip Off Classic yesterday on the campus of Conway Christian School. The tourney features 8 teams spread out over 4 days of action.
The first 2 games of the event were very lopsided games which we thought could happen here. Trinity Byrnes remains perfect on the season at 10-0. The Titans cruised to easy victory over Antioch Christian (Lumberton, NC) 110-45,
The Titans led 22-3 from the get go and never looked back. Sophomore Jordan Jones led the blowout with 20 points, Lasauhn McFadden added 9 points, Terance Mack 8 points, CJ Miles 8 points and Ryan Frierson 8 all joined in on the rout.
The nightcap game wasn’t much better as Green Sea-Floyds blitzed Marlboro Academy 110-42. Shaquille Johnson scored 20 points in the first quarter on his way to 41 points. Johnson 6’3 man child is a physical specimen. Johnson converted on 20-28 from the floor and 1-2 free throws for his scoring. Johnson had 4 dunks in the game.
Johnson played this past summer with the Ascend Ballers on the AAU circuit played the past few seasons at West Bladen HS (Bladenboro, NC) across the state border. Johnson had 5 touchdowns in a game earlier this season vs Military Magnet.
Johnson has all the tools to play at the college level and is a very well spoken young man. Johnson a Top 100 player in the Prep Hoops 2018 Palmetto State Class. Johnson was dismissed from the football team halfway through the season. Johnson might be a kid who needs to entertain junior college and help build up a reputation again.
The 3rd Annual HTC Tip Off Classic continues on Thursday at Conway Christian School. Socastee HS will play the host Conway Christian Eagles and New Life (NC) will entertain Calvary Christian.
All teams will play again on Friday and Saturday. Each team is guaranteed 3 games.
