Palmetto State : 2021 Players Pre X-Mas
Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the top 2021 players we saw this week during our travels through the Palmetto State. I attended the Savannah River Shootout, Shootout By the Sea and the Panther Classic events this past week.
Bryce McGowens – Wren HS (Piedmont) (pictured on front)
McGowens can really shoot the ball from downtown. McGowens playing without his brother older Trey who moved onto Hargrave Military Academy for his senior season is the the go to guy for Head Coach Fran Campbell. McGowens shows nice elevation on his shot and poise on the floor for the Hurricanes.
John Butler – Christ Church (Greenville)
Butler 6’11 already is very skinny and wiry. Butler can and likes to play face-up on the perimeter and has the ability to knockdown the 3 pointer. Butler swatted away several shots here with Prep Hoops in attendance at he Panther Classic.
Russell “RJ” Felton – North Augusta HS
Felton can really score the ball for the Yellow Jackets. Prep Hoops first saw Felton back in late March in the Ice Breaker AAU Event in North Augusta, SC playing with Upward Stars Riverfront. Felton comes off the bench for the Yellow Jackets as a 6th man.
Kyle Lewis – Carolina Forest HS
Lewis a savvy point guard has a solid feel for the game. Lewis gets a little too cool at times with the ball but is a precise passer and good leader on the floor for the Panthers. Lewis can keep you honest on the defensive end when he has the ability to knock down shots.
Tyler Rice – Ridge View HS
Rice comes off the bench for the Blazers. The Blazers finished runner up to Boiling Springs at The Shootout By the Sea Tourney. Rice played this past summer with the Central Carolina Force AAU program. Rice’s older brother plays basketball at The Citadel.
