Notebook: Graber Post Classic
The Graber Post Classic provides a great look at some of the southern teams in the state with powerhouses like Brownstown Central, Barr-Reeve, South Knox, and this year one of the best 1A teams in Blackhawk Christian. We recap the final day of games including the championship game.
North Daviess 53, Clay City 32
Early on, this was going to be a big win for North Daviess as they held Clay City scoreless for the first quarter and a half. 11 minutes and 11 seconds to be exact. Now, Clay City did get things going in the third and fourth quarter but couldn’t stop North Daviess as they got into the double bonus quickly and racked up a ton of free throws. Was a pretty convincing win for North Daviess.

South Knox 48, Pike Central 40
South Knox and Pike Central did a good job going right at each other early on and Pike was able to compete physically for a while. However, South Knox flexed it’s muscles in the second half and was much more physical in the post with Brandon Fickling going right at the paint for most of the game. Bryant Nalley was solid in the second half on offense knocking down three perimeter jumpers to help keep Pike close but not close enough.
Top Performers:
Brandon Fickling (SN) – 12 points
Nick Johnson (SN) – 10 points
Bryant Nalley (PC) – 19 points
Brayton Booker (PC) – 9 points
Loogootee 47, Brownstown Central 42
Brownstown Central came out of the game looking like they usually do and were knocking down shots and running the offense really well. All the while, they started racking up fouls and Loogootee was able to stay in and get a bunch in the first half. Silas Bauer did a lot of the work early but he held Brownstown off enough to let Jaydon Wagoner get hot and started to control the game on both sides of the ball.
Top Performers:
Silas Bauer (L): 16 points
Jayden Wagoner (L): 14 points
Cameron Luedeman (BC): 14 points
Caleb Bollinger (BC): 9 points
Blackhawk Christian 68, Barr-Reeve 48
Early and often, Blackhawk Christian went inside to their big guys. Both Caleb Furst and Drake Thompson were playing well, getting early buckets. Then came Devin Donaldson who went 4/4 early from three to put Blackhawk Christian up big. Barr-Reeve finally got going in the second quarter as Gabe Gladish stepped up and was able to make a little run. However, it wasn’t enough as Blackhawk kept making plays and hitting threes and was able to pull out an easy win.
