Nolan To Make The Most Of Post Grad Season
With a torrent of high-major talent such as R.J. Barrett, Andrew Nembhard, Luguentz Dort and myriad other prized recruits, Canada is no longer strictly a hockey hotbed. The basketball seed has been planted and continues to grow rapidly in Canada, as a steady new wave of prolific talent makes its way to the United States.
One of Canada’s more unknown, underappreciated guards now vows to stamp his imprint at CGM Academy in Arizona.
With CGM expanding its enrollment and campus in January, Class of 2018 guard Taysean Nolan looks to offer a high impact as an electrifying 6-foot-4 guard.
Uber athletic and bolstered by his ability to knife to the rim and finish, Nolan has the attributes to come in right away and play both guard positions. After showing promise on the AAU scene, Nolan will look to prosper in his lone season in America’s post graduate circuit.
“The best attribute of my game is my athleticism,” said Nolan, who gauged his grit against nationally ranked prospects such as Anfernee Simons during one of Scott Golden’s Hoop Exchange event in Florida during the spring.
“When you combine that with my ability to handle the basketball, I think that and my strength furthers my ability to be a facilitator and playmaker for my team. It helps with my ability to break down my defender and find a good shot, as well as draw the defender to me and therefore open up the floor for my teammates.”
Northern Arizona, Liberty, Denver, Florida Atlantic, and Alabama A & M are all inquiring about Nolan.
At CGM Academy, which preaches the academic component with an iron fist while also growing its post-graduate basketball program at a quick pace, Nolan will join other unsigned backcourt pieces such as Deondre Bourne, Jerome Sims III, and Mike Minessa.
The program features a burgeoning high-major recruit and adept defensive presence in Abdou N’Diaye, who is currently being pursued by Cincinnatti, UNLV, and a barrage of others.
Guard play is pivotal for CGM, which entertains a national schedule which includes West Coast prep powers such as Prolific Prep (CA), Bella Vista Prep (Az.), and Hillcrest Prep (Az.). Pushing the player development focus at CGM is Tony Miller, who dealt out 956 career assists (seventh all time in Division-I history) during an illustrious career at Marquette.
