NC I-95 Showcase (Erwin, NC)
Prep Hoops took in a day of action at the 4th Annual NC I-95 Showcase in Erwin, NC. The event was hosted by Cape Fear Christian Academy and Head coach Dwight Miller.
Beckley Prep (WV) vs Shooting 4 Greatness (Raleigh, NC) started the day at the I-95 Showcase. Beckley Prep went onto defeat Shooting 4 Greatness behind the strong play of Amiri Waddell. Waddell a Charlotte, NC native played last season at Concord 1st Assembly. Waddell 6’6 scored the ball inside-out today and finished with 29 points and 8 reboundsfor Beckley Prep. Waddell connected on 4 three pointers.
Jordan Shannon added 16 points and point guard John Dawson scored 8 points. Dawson won 4 straight high school championships in the State of West Virginia. Dawson played AAU with Big Shots West Virginia this past summer.
Shooting 4 Greatness was led in scoring by sharp shooting Rahki Person. Person a shooting guard from Richmond, VA finished the night with 16 points. Tyree Lomax a strong left-handed guard from Baton Rouge, LA finished the game with 11 points.
The 2nd game of the day featured Believe Prep vs New Life Christian Academy. New Life Academy stayed in the until the halftime break. The Monarchs were down 32-27 at halftime. Arshon King (2018) and Reggie Walton (2020)kept the younger Monarchs in the game. King hit several mid-range jumpers and did knockdown some three pointers.
Walton 6’0 point guard was quite shifty with the ball and got to the rack quite easily at times. Believe Prep a post graduate team had just to many bodies to pull away and win the game 81-55.
