NC I-95 Showcase (Erwin, NC) WestRidge Academy
WestRidge Academy brought 2 teams down to the NC I-95 Showcase yesterday and walked away quite happy with the outcome. The WestRidge Academy Postgraduate got the afternoon started by playing Bull City Prep Postgraduate. The North Carolina based teams went back in forth all game long and in the end the WestRidge Academy Postgraduate prevailed 78-68.
Weston Edwards came up with big shot after big shot for the Golden Knights. Edwards 5’11 shooting guard had committed to Delaware State out of high last season after playing at Concord 1st Assembly. Edwards hit several three pointers in the game. Edwards sparks a quick shot release.
Issac Lecompte 6’5 jumping jack played out of position for the short roster of WestRidge Academy. Lecompte a Delaware native will look to enroll in a junior college at the semester break. Lecompte really excels in the transition game and has the ability to knockdown three pointers.
Omar Curry started the season at Jordan Prep before arriving at WestRidge Academy. Curry a combo guard played last season at William Penn in Philadelphia, PA. Curry came up with some big plays today down the stretch for the Golden Knights.
The Golden Knights HS team sneaked out a victory over the host team Cape Fear Christian Academy64-52. Head Coach Antonio Lowe was led by his 3-headed monster of Caleb Burgess, Steven Randle and Javarzia Belton.
Burgess (2019) a point guard led the way with 19 points. Burgess scored the ball in transition and at the rack all night long for the Golden Knights. Randle (2018) scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the win.
Belton reclassified earlier this fall to the 2020 class. Belton 6’9 from Calhoun Falls, SC finished the evening with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Zach Shumate (2019) finished the night with 7 points. Shumate hit some big three pointers late in the game to secure the victory.
