NC I-95 Showcase – 2018 Guards
The 4th Annual NC I-95 Showcase had no shortage of talent this week when Prep Hoops stopped in on Monday to watch games. Prep Hoops takes a look st some 2018 guards that remain unsigned for next season in this article.
Malique Jacobs – Bull City Prep HS
Jacobs was at the top of his game again here today for Bull City Prep. Jacobs 6’4 Wilmington, NC native plays with so much confidence and swagger on the floor. Jacobs is like having a coach on the floor with his basketball IQ. Jacobs is in his 2nd season at Bull City Prep after playing at New Hanover HS.
Jacobs played AAU this summer with Flight 22 Premier and Head Coach Tiger Aldrich. Jacobs hit some mid-range jumpers while getting to the rack at will tonight. Jacobs and Coach Darryl Harris have indicated to Prep Hoops it looks like they will have to entertain junior college options for next season.
Hutchinson CC (KS), Tallahassee CC (FL), Palm Beach State (FL), Cape Fear CC (NC), and Southeastern CC (IA) are just some of the junior college programs contacting Jacobs.
Chris Martin – Liberty Heights (Charlotte)
Martin was Mr. Clutch again tonight for Liberty Heights in a 50-48 win over over Believe Prep. Martin scored the game winner at the buzzer on his way to 17 points. Martin isn’t the biggest guard but he’s one tough hombre on the floor. Martin has showed out in several games Prep Hoops has seen him play this season.
John Dawson – Beckley Prep (WV)
Dawson is just a WINNER period. Dawson won 4 state championships at Huntington High School (WV) and finished 12-0 in the state tournament in his 4 years of high school. Dawson is a system point guard that plays within his game. Dawson played this past summer with Big Shots West Virginia on the AAU circuit.
Marques Watson – Quality Education (Winston-Salem) (pictured on front)
Watson arrived in the Hoop State from Brooklyn, NY. Watson 6’5 guard played at Thomas Jefferson HS back in New York. Watson has good size and length. Watson attacked the basket and got into the gaps plenty of times today vs Believe Prep.
