Kalamazoo 1-2 Punches
With so many hubs of basketball talent in the state of Michigan, we can’t overlook the city of Kalamazoo. There’s no denying that their is talent there to be discovered. Last season, Kalamazoo Central was the home of Isaiah Livers, who was named Mr. Basketball. This season Kalamazoo Central and Kalamazoo Loy Norrix will have 1-2 punches that can make plays and quickly turn the course of a game.
KALAMAZOO 1-2 PUNCHES
Alexander Johnson (2018, 6-3, Guard, Kalamazoo Loy Norrix) and Nmeso Nnebedum (2019, 5-11, Point Guard, Kalamazoo Loy Norrix)
These two guards are a nice fit together and compliment each other well. Johnson has good size at the off guard spot and is a strong all around athlete as well. Nnebedum is a classic point guard. He efficiently runs an offense and will find teammates when they are in a scoring position. Nnebedum is shifty enough that he can create his own look at the basket and score when needed. It’s easy to see a Nnebedum-to-Johnson combination being a recipe for success.
Darius Pruitt (2018, 6-5, Power Forward, Kalamazoo Central) and Trevon Gunter (2020, 6-4, Small Forward, Kalamazoo Central)
This combination is solid and improve significantly as the season progresses. Pruitt will have a much more prominent role this year and he is ready. He is a tough kid who is good on the glass and can score in the post and from mid range. Gunter will improve as he becomes used to basketball at the varsity level. Gunter has good ball handling skills and is athletic. Look for these young men to form a strong combination of forwards.
