Though he started off his career as a guard, Herring is now at least 6-foot-6.
“He was 6’ tall in the 9th grade,” said Christian Brothers Head Coach William Luckett. “He looks like he grows over the weekend.”
Herring has long, thin arms to go with a silky shooting touch. There is something there worth recruiting. There are a series of Jack Herring highlights on hudl.
His level feels in flux based on body type. He is very thin for a college 3-4. Is he hearing from college coaches right now?
“He has Suwanee, Rhodes, Millsaps…some people like that,” shared Coach Luckett.
There are young men that have college talent, but are not sold on continuing their career. Because Herring was never considered a surefire prospect he probably dealt with the realistic possibility that high school was as far as he was going to go in an official uniform.
Does the talented senior even want to play beyond high school?
“He is up in the air on that right now,” said Coach Luckett. “I think he wants to go to University of Georgia and be a student. He is a guy that played JV last year.”
Jack Herring definitely can help a college coach. He would probably benefit from a year of weight-training and consuming unnatural amounts of proteins. Still, the decision remains his and his alone.
