Intro: Michael Huene (2020)
St. Viator 2020 Michael Huene is an intriguing 6’8” post. The skilled big man has nice footwork in the post and an array of skilled post moves. At times he can over think it and do too many moves. Can score with a hook shot over both his right and left shoulders. Gives his guard a big target to throw the ball into. Willing passer out of the post. Could add some strength which will help him finish more consistently. Funky release on free throw. Potential to be a good rebounder high pointing them in traffic. Huene is a player that we are looking forward to seeing how he develops.
He spoke about how his sophomore season is going so far.
“I think it is going pretty good. We started off good, then we got a little slow, but I think we are getting back into it.”
How would he describe his game for people who haven’t seen him play?
“I do well in the post and can go outside. My main game is get the ball in the post and go to work.”
Huene talked about his role on the team at St. Viator this season.
“My main role is providing solid defense for my team. Getting rebounds for my team and then my offense will come.”
He ran with All-In Athletics this past summer.
“It went well. I really grew with my quick post moves. I didn’t really have those moves before. As the summer went on I worked with one of my coaches on that.”
Nothing on the recruiting trail at this time, but he is definitely one to monitor!
