WASHINGTON, DC — The 29th Annual DC Classic returned to Gonzaga, and we were able to catch the all four opening round games on Thursday. Here is our full scouting report from our time in the gym.
Big time athlete. Consistent jump shooter, both off the catch and from the pull up. Extremely versatile and tough defender. Makes plays for others. Protects the rim. Posts up. Handles it.
Versatile forward. High basketball IQ. Good passer. Moves well without the ball. Could still be growing. Has huge feet.
Has the tools to be a major division one player. Versatile. Athletic. Long. Skilled.
Long limbed big man with good mobility, strong hands and a high motor. Still rounding into shape, but has solid division one potential moving forward.
Good athlete with a high IQ. Creates for others, but can also get his own. Plays with a high motor. Rebounds and defends.
Does a lot of things well. Shot maker with an excellent pull up game. Must be a knock down shooter to reach full potential. As his decision making improves, so will his game.
Natural combo guard. Has grown a few inches since the summer. Very good facilitator. Can score it well from all three levels. Must be consistently aggressive at all times.
Well built wing who can shoot the three efficiently from the catch, but can mix it up in the middle areas and around the basket as well. Fills the lanes. Plays with a high motor. Takes charges.
High IQ lead guard with good size, and vision. Displays an impressive offensive skill set. Works ball screens, makes teammates better, scores when he needs to. Rebounds well for a guard. Pushes the pace effectively, but works just as efficiently in half court O.
Very skilled and reliable floor general. A winner, and team player. Can score from all over the floor. A knock down shooter. Finishes well in the lane, and likes contact. Defends the ball well, and will take charges. Clearly cares about winning.
Clutch performer. Natural combo guard. Scores it very well from all three levels. Loves contact at the rim. Lockdown defender. Rebounds very well from his position. Still improving, and has a chance to be one of the best players on this list at the next level.
High IQ floor general with tremendous explosiveness and agility. Defends very well on and off the ball. Lives in the paint, and doesn’t mind contact at the rim. Reliable playmaker, and unselfish. A winner.
Could still be growing. Skilled guard who can play on and off the ball. Defends very well. Makes plays for others. Communicates well with teammates. Has great body language, and displays solid intangibles.
Glue guy with big time athleticism and versatility. Good size and length at 6’7. High IQ player.
Very energetic wing. Versatile defender. Rebounds. Can shoot the 3. Fills the lanes correctly. Makes smart cuts off the ball.
Lockdown defender. Skilled guard who can play all over the floor. Takes charges. Gets into the lane and finishes from uncommon angles. Doesn’t mind contact at the rim.
Still a bit raw, but has a ton of room for growth. Very skilled. Long and lanky wing with good hands.
High energy center. Nice hands. Active rebounder. Solid defender.
Skilled and long. Versatile defender. Active and alert. High basketball IQ. Sneaky athlete.
6’7 forward has a knack for scoring and rebounding. Has grown a bit since the summer. Works hard in the paint.
High level division one talent. 6’5 wing who can shoot the cover off the ball. Very skilled playmaker. Has tremendous defensive potential.
Athletic, strong wing that can score at all three levels. Knockdown three-point shooter off kick-outs. Hard worker who attacks the glass aggressively for rebounds.
Intelligent and ultra competitive Floor general. Distributes the ball, works ball screens, and facilitates offense. Handles pressure. Makes shots from long range, and has a good mid range pull up. Decent finisher around the rim.
Energetic big man with broad shoulders, very long arms, and strong hands. Decent touch around the paint. Super aggressive on the boards.
Has good size for a wing at 6’3. Rangy athlete, long limbs. Fills the lanes in transition. Finishes strong in traffic. Can stretch the floor from three off the catch.
Much improved guard with good size at 6’4. Has become a very confident scoring threat from three levels. Smart defender. Moves extremely well off the ball. Plays with a consistently high motor. Sneaky athlete, and is filling out.
Sharpshooter. Quick release. Moves well off the ball. Understands off ball positioning on defense. Will take a charge.
Knock down shooter from the perimeter, but a very capable scorer from all three levels. Very strong 6’7 forward who rebounds well. Plays bigger than his listed height. Finishes extremely well through contact. Had a very productive freshman campaign. A proven winner.
