OAKTON, VA — Flint Hill Hosted its 10 Annual Tip Off Tournament last weekend, and we were able to catch two games on Friday night. Here is our full scouting report from our time in the gym.
High IQ lead guard with good vision. Can shoot with range from the catch. Must add weight and strength.
Moore is a creative and skilled lead guard who shoots it exceptionally well off the dribble and from the catch from three. He defends the ball well, understands the game, and is a vocal presence on the floor.
Taylor is a strong wing with good size. Has nice touch from mid range and three from the catch.
Johns is a strong slashing wing with a great feel for the game. He has a good mid range game, and can finish from various angles at the rim. He can make three point shots off the catch, but that is probably the one area he needs to gain some consistency in. Johns is a very intelligent, vocal player, and a leader. He exhibits ideal intangibles.
Elite rim protector. Still developing offensively, but has shown signs on that end of the floor. Very athletic and long.
Strong, athletic wing who can score around the basket in traffic, but also has a nice pullup mid range jumper. Aggressive. Good rebounder out of area. Good passer. Plays with a high IQ. Defends.
Strong guard who likes to drive & create contact. Finishes well in traffic. Gets great elevation on his jump shot. Plays solid defense, and works hard on both ends of the floor.
Defensive specialist that can knock down threes from the catch. Anticipates passing lanes well.
High IQ defender. Handles pressure, and makes plays for others. Plays with a consistently high motor. Must get more consistent with his perimeter jump shot.
Versatile wing who moves well off the ball and has good size at 6’5. Can guard multiple positions, and rebounds well.
At 6’11″, Wahab is a terrific rim protector and he can run the floor with guards and wings to finish above the rim or clean up the offensive glass. He’s made major improvements in both his post game and in his midrange jump shot. If he continues to improve at the rate he is, he’ll be a very highly recruited player moving forward.
Sharpshooter. Has very good size. Moves well without the ball. Has a quick release. Tends to be a bit gun-shy at times, but that should change with experience.
Extremely strong and quick lead guard. Gets in the lane at will. Plays for others. Has improved as a jump shooter. Plays with a high motor, and defends very well. Vocal.
Long, lanky, mobile, and skilled forward. Natural rim protector. Has excellent timing when challenging shots. Can shoot the 3.
