LIBERTY, Mo. — The second game of Saturday’s 810varsity Tipoff Classic featured 6’4 2018 forward Will Eames getting hot from long distance as the Tigers ran away from Shawnee Mission North for an 82-54 win.
Eames finished with a game-high 31, all coming in three quarters of action.
Here, Prep Hoops takes a look at five things that stood out.
Lee’s Summit Eames is an offensive force
Eames is emerging as one of the Kansas City area’s premier perimeter shooters with the ability to get hot and light up the scoreboard from long range. On Saturday, he knocked down six 3-pointers in the third quarter, but he also showed a well-rounded game. With long arms and good activity, Eames has become a good defensive player capable of helping his team protect the basket and also get on th boards.
Jarrett Hensley is a player to watch
A long, rangy 6’7 forward, Hensley is emerging as a player to watch in the 2019 class in Kansas. He has a lot of bounce in his game and is able to finish above the rim with emphatic slams, as well as block shots at the defensive end of the court. He also has a nice face up game is adept at driving to the bucket and finishing tough chances.
Moore one of KC area’s top sophomores
Also a standout on the football field for Les’s Summit, 2020 guard Jaden Moore is a strong all-around player who plays bigger than his listed 6’2 height. He is a big guard, able to see over defenses and excels at driving to the basket.
Deron McDaniel an underrated guard
Lee’s Summit 2018 point guard Deron McDaniel went for 23 points and showed he is among the better guards around. He knocked down 3-pointers, got to the bucket and the free throw line and excelled in transition where he scored numerous easy chances.
Shawnee Mission North a work in progress
Things didn’t start quite like the Indians would have liked on Saturday. Their guards struggled to handle it at times, but this group has some good pieces and Hensley is a good building block in the paint. Shawnee Mission North is an eceptionally young team with just one senior on its roster. Look for their junior guards, Jackson Bell, KT Harris, Tremaine Bell and others to improved throughout the course of the season.
