Distinguished Freshmen: ENC (2021)
In the eastern part of North Carolina, there have been a load of distinguished freshmen that are contributing at a high level for their varsity team. It’s too early to project a level of college play, but these kids clearly have shown ability early on to dominate & produce at a higher level than many of their peers who are upperclassmen.
Terence Harcum – Granville Central High School – 6’1” PG
Averaging 18 points & 4 assists early on for his varsity team. Really quick guard that shows a polished ability to create his own shot off of the dribble. Also a slick passer that shows potential to become a deadly combo guard over time. Remember the name.
Elijah Jamison – Louisburg High School – 6’2” PG
Physically imposing freshman guard. Bullies his way to the basket and knocks down mid-range shots at a high rate. Averaging over 24 points and 3 assists per game despite being subject to box & 1 defenses and double teams on a nightly basis. A year young for his class. Could be special.
Po’Boigh King – Roanoke Rapids High School – 6’3” SG
Sweet shooting guard that doesn’t waste many movements. Has some sneaky quickness and a very quick release on his jump-shot. Not afraid to mix it up and crash the glass and has some passing ability as well. Averaging 15 points & 4 assists per game.
Leontae Moye – Ayden-Grifton High School – 6’6” SF
Outrageously long wing that can defend the rim or perimeter at a high level. His elite length allows him to cover a ton of ground and erase tons of blown assignments. Also finishes everything around the basket. Shooting 87% from the field, averaging 18 points, 8 rebounds & 4.7 blocks per game.
Bennie Brooks – East Carteret High School – 6’3” SG
Another sweet shooting guard that can do a little bit of everything for his team. Had a relatively slow start to the season, but is beginning to put together consistent great games for East Carteret. Has great size, basketball IQ and shooting ability. Expect to hear this name alot soon.
Bobby Pettiford Jr – South Granville High School – 6’0” PG
Has all the makings of an elite point guard prospect. Outstanding athlete that can take bumps on drives and guard multiple positions with great success. Very unselfish & sees the floor at a high level. Would not be surprised if he becomes one of the top all around point guard prospects one day.
