North Carolina Standouts from Day 3 at Chick-Fil-A Classic
Isaac Suffren continued his strong play into the third day at The Chick-Fil-A Classic, scoring 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds for Providence Day to beat MaxPreps #21 ranked Cox Mill HS 63-52. He picked up some ACC interest and also picked up an offer from Drexel University with his play over the past few days. Suffren is a 6’3, 2018 guard/wing that has a college ready body and can score off the dribble or knock down the three-point shot. He scored 24 points on the first day of the Classic against Westside HS (GA). A total of 48 points and 19 rebounds over the first two games for Providence Day.
Kansas bound point guard Devon Dotson had 31 points in the first game for Providence Day on Thursday and followed that up with 17 points and 8 rebounds against Cox Mill HS. He showed why Bill Self and Kansas made him a priority. He will take over the reigns from another North Carolina bred point guard in Devontae Graham to lead The Jayhawks.
Santa Clara signee Trey Wertz put on a shooting display in the first game of the tournament for Providence Day knocking down 5 of 7 shots from beyond the arc and finishing with 23 points against Westside HS (GA) and he continued his shooting into Friday against Cox Mill HS and scored 16 points.
Rechon Black had a game on Friday that reminded people why Roy Willams and North Carolina offered the 6-foot-7 guard out of Cox Mill HS. Black scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for The Chargers. He showed his ability to handle the basketball, attack the rim and grab rebounds.
2019 Wendell Moore had one of the best games of his career in front of national media on Thursday, scoring 31 points, grabbing 7 rebounds and getting 4 steals for Cox Mill HS. Moore followed up the next day with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
