The Chick-Fil-A Classic held at Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, South Carolina started today with a host of some of the top teams regionally and nationally.
York Prep vs AC Flora HS
York Prep coached by Frank Hamrick was led by one of the top 2019 big men in the country, DJ Burns. Burns is as good of a big man prospect that we have seen around this area since Kennedy Meeks was at West Charlotte back in 2013. He has a soft touch around the basket and can score from the mid-range. He scored 16 points to go along with 9 rebounds on the night. He was 7-13 shooting on the night. Scoring 17 points for York Prep was Jacobi Wright, a 2021 prospect. Wright shot 5-11 from the field in the win 53-50.
Porter Gaud vs Lower Richland HS
The defending SCISAA 3-A state champs, Porter Gaud were too much from top to bottom for Lower Richland HS tonight winning the game 71-56. Vanderbilt signee Aaron Nesmith with 29 points on the night while shooting 7-13 from the field and making 15-20 free throws. 2019 point guard Josiah James scored 17 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 2 assists.
Christian BrownTop-20 2019 recruit Christian Brown of Lower Richland HS scored 21 points to go along with 9 rebounds.
Blythewood vs Northeast Richland HS
Quite a few days for 2018 big man Robert Braswell. Oklahoma State offered yesterday and today he scored 29 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in a win for Blythewood HS over Richland Northeast HS, 67-41. The 6-foot-9 stretch-four man can score from deep and can score in the paint. He needs to gain some weight and put on some muscle but he is a player that has unlimited potential. Head Coach Mike Boynton of Oklahoma State and an assistant coach were on hand to see Braswell along with Frank Martin of South Carolina.
Grays Collegiate Academy vs Keenan HS
Top-20 ranked 2019 Juwan Gary scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Grays Collegiate. 2019 point guard Tommy Bruner with 19 points in the win over Kennan HS.
