The Catch-Up: Early Season News and Notes
All over the state of Kentucky this season, players have been hitting career milestones. Whether they crossed 1,000 career points or became their school’s all time leading scorer, players are reaching career achievements early this season. I’ve also sprinkled in a few news and notes that may have gone unnoticed or under-reported. In no particular order:
- Corbin’s Andrew Taylor captured his 1,000th career rebound last week. Taylor is also closing in on 3,000 points for his high school career.
- Paducah Tilghman’s Junior PG Rodriguez Thomas scored his 1,000th point on December 2nd against North Hardin.
- Newport Central Catholic Senior Brennan Hall also scored his 1,000th career point earlier this month
- Newport’s Mekell Burries has committed to Pikeville. Burries should be a really nice player for Coach Kelly Wells.
- Pendleton County’s Dontaie Allen recently moved into 3rd place all time in scoring for the Wildcats with 1,808 career points.
- Warren Central Senior guard Skyelar Potter scored his 1,000th career point on Tuesday night.
- Bowling Green Senior Jarius Key received his first offer. NAIA’s Campbellsville University offered the versatile big man.
- John Hardin’s Malik Wright also received his first offer from an NAIA school. Georgetown College offered the super athletic combo guard.
- Wright’s teammate Mickey Pearson became the all time leading scorer in school history this past Saturday against Manual.
- Pulaski County Senior Steven Fitzgerald scored a school record 54 points against Wayne County last night.
