The 37th annual Beach Ball Classic is on the Grand Strand again this year in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This is one of the top tournaments in the southeast and this year, Duke recruit RJ Barrett, one of the top 2020 prospects, 6-foot-6 Andre Jackson, UNC signee Rechon Black and one of the top 2019’s in the country, Wendell Moore. This tournament is one of the longest running in the country and has seen many college and NBA stars play on this court. Spartanburg Day senior Zion Williamson (#2 2018) has announced that he will not be cleared to play until after January which essentially leaves him out of the tournament.
Cox Mill High School out of Charlotte, North Carolina led by UNC signee Rechon Black and one of the top 2019 prospects in the country, Wendell Moore will face off with Fairland High School (Ohio) on Tuesday, December 26th at 3;30.
Fairland High School is led by senior 6’4 guard Isaiah Howell, 6’2 senior guard Lucas Thomas and Collin Van Horn, a 6-foot-8 forward. Head Coach Nathan Speed has a career record of 120-50 at Fairland High School and are coming off a 25-2 record from this past season.
Cox Mill High School suffered their first loss of the season at The Chick-Fil-A Classic losing to Providence Day by a score of 63-52.
With a win, Cox Mill High School will take on the winner of the Clark (Las Vegas) and Lanett (AL).
Clark is led by Gregory Foster Jr., Jalen Hill and Trey Woodbury.
Lanett is led by Anquavious Pollard, Terrion Truitt and Emmanuel Littles.
