8th Annual Brunswick CC Holiday Classic
Prep Hoops took in Day 1 of some junior college action from Brunswick Community College in Supply, NC yesterday. Prep Hoops will take a look at some of the players in the event with North Carolina ties.
Kwe Parker (SO) – Cape Fear CC
Parker has made the conversion to running the point guard spot for the Sea Devils. Parker a Tennessee Transfer found the open man here today and really excelled in the open court. Parker had a big-time reputation early on in high school basketball in Fayetteville.
Zaqwaun Matthews (SO) – Cape Fear CC
Matthews the former Chattanooga Transfer sat out last season with a injury. Matthews a Charlotte native has a very quick shot release and great feel for the game.
Alston Davis (SO) – Cape Fear CC
Davis 6’6 wing is back for his second season with the Sea Devils. Davis a Charlotte, NC native played at Arlington Country Day (FL). Davis has received plenty of interest according to Sea Devils Head Coach Ryan Mantlo. University of Illinois-Chicago, North Carolina A&T, Mercer, Indiana State, Stephen F Austin have all shown interest in Davis. Davis is averaging 10.3 ppg and 5.6 rebounds this season.
Donte Tatum (SO) – Cape Fear CC (pictured on front)
Tatum a academic qualifer came into the game averaging 15.6 ppg and 7.1 rebounds. Tatum 6’1 (183) guard is just a tank at some times. Tatum plays with a “Warrior” toughness. Tatum was a all-state selection at Cary HS. Western Carolina and Stetson have offered Tatum according to Mantlo.
James Moore (FR) – Cape Fear CC
Moore is a absolute pogo stick on the floor. Moore 6’7 a Eastern North Carolina kid played at Legacy Early College (SC) last season.
Raekwon Long (SO) – Chattanooga State (TN)
Long has been a journey man over the years. Long played very limited here today for the Tigers. Long 7’0 played last season at Daytona State College (FL). Long this season is averaging 11.5 ppg, 7.3 rebounds and 2 blocks for the 6-5 Tigers. Long will need summer school to graduate according to Tigers Head Coach Jay Price.
AJ Morris (RS-FR) – Chattanoga State (TN)
Morris was a pleasant surprise. Morris a guard sat out last season at Caldwell Tech (NC). Morris played a year of post-grad ball at Bull City Prep. Morris connected some shots today from the mid-range level. Great team player – will have 3 years to leave. Morris came into the game averaging 12.9 ppg this season.
