The Brunswick Community College Holiday Classic is a 3 day event with 6 teams. Prep Hoops will take a look at 2 more programs in the host Dolphins and Caldwell Tech (Hickory) in this segment. All of these players hail from the State of North Carolina.
Trevor Willis (SO) Caldwell Tech
Willis transferred into Caldwell Tech after playing last season at Cape Fear CC. Willis found himself looking for a school this summer after getting into a off the court incident. Willis a scoring guard is a former player at East Carteret HS (Beaufort) Willis scored 1,849 points in his career for the Mariners.
Willis is currently averaging 17.2 ppg for the 9-3 Cobras this season. Willis scored 21 points today in the victory over Bryant & Stratton (VA).
Jaylon Wray (SO) Caldwell Tech
Wray 6’3 is from Shelby, NC. Wray played his freshman season at Brunswick CC. Wray a academic qualifier is averaging 15.5 ppg this season for the Cobras.
Omari Wilson (FR) Brunswick CC (pictured on front)
Wilson 6’4 was a pleasant surprise today for the Dolphins. Wilson a academic qualifier hit some mid-range jumpers today. Wilson brings great versatility to the floor and the ability to defend many positions. Wilson is a Fayetteville, NC native.
Jael Scott (FR) Brunswick CC
Scott flushed down several shots today stalking the baseline. Scott 6’3 prepped at Forest Trail Academy last season after playing in Charlotte. Scott is averaging 7.5 ppg this season on a well balanced Dolphins squad.
Najee Thomas (FR) Brunswick CC
Thomas 6’10 will be a player in time and just some more seasoning. Thomas runs rebounds out of his area and plays every possession to the fullest amount of energy. Thomas must work on his timing and still get more polished around the cup.
Devin Hutchinson (SO) Brunswick CC
Hutchinson a big wing signed with Radford University during the early NCAA Signing Period. Hutchinson 6’5 prepped a season at Concord Prep before landing at Brunswick Community College. Hutchinson is averaging 15.6 ppg for the 10-1 Dolphins.
