8 Best: Kamiak vs. Mount Lake Terrace
This has been a rival game for years now. For some reason these two teams play with an excessive amount of physicality and the game usually comes down to the last 2 or 3 possessions. Every year it is the same outcome. Kamiak for the most part has accumulated more wins against Mount Lake. Lets take a look at some notable performances in this game.
MVP | CARSON TUTTLE
Carson Tuttle did a bit of everything for the Knights in this one. The 2018 D1 high major recruit scored a game-high 26 points, and led by example with his effort and energy.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | KHYREE ARMSTEAD
The Class of 2018 guard had a stellar game. Mixing it up with rim attacks and spectacular dribble moves is the reason why his performance stood out. He was also a factor on the defensive end with a flurry of blocked shots and great rebound. He kept the game close in the first half prior to tuttle getting in his groove.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | MASON PETERSEN
Mason Petersen led the game with 4 steals and scored 12 points in this game defensively was everywhere on the floor. When it comes to stops and guarding the other teams best players he is the guy they call on.
BEST REBOUNDER | BRENDAN HAYES
We didn’t keep a tally of Brendan Hayes is a fighter. Even though the rebounds weren’t tallied for us to provide a number. I would say he had about 8 rebounds and 4 of them on the offensive end. He will be a key contributor this season and there top rebounder.
BEST GLUE GUY | PATRICK OLSON
After a quiet start to this game, Patrick Olson made his presence felt in the second half. The 6-foot-4 forwards, who plays a deliberate style of ball, knocked down key jumpers, foul shots, and had some nice finishes in transition. Olson ended up with 14 points on the night.
BEST PASSER | DANNY SHARPE
Danny Sharpe dished out a game high 5 assists. He committed just 1 turnovers as well. The lead guard made intelligent, swift decisions after breaking down the first man. He contributed on the offensive end as well scoring 7 points in some key possessions. The most impressive parts of his game is when during consecutive possessions he was in the paint helping out with the rebounding. Most guards don’t rebound but he was in there fighting.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | CHARLIE POWERS
sophomore guard Charlie Powers stands at 5’10 and boy did he have some special moments on the floor. He is a heady guard who can finish at the basket and pushes the ball extremely well in transition. With time he will develop to be a good point guard in the years to come.
BEST STORY TO WATCH MOVING FORWARD
These two teams matchup one more time this season. After how competitive and exciting the first game was, it will be interesting to see how the rematch turns out.
