5 Takeaways : Fort Dorchester vs Berkeley
The Patriots came over to Moncks Corner for a rematch game in which they lost in the season opener. The home team Stags jumped out to a 6-0 lead at 6:18 mark. Antoine Parker and Trent Bryant were too much for the Stags in the paint all night long. Parker (2020) got all his points at the baskets just because of effort and relentlessness on the glass. Berkeley led 22-19 at the halftime break.
Bryant and Latrell Marshall both took over in the paint in the 2nd half for the Patriots. Bryant scored 8 points in the 3rd quarter on his way to 18 points tonight. The Patriots outscored the Stags 16-8 in the 4th quarter to a 55-41 victory on the road.
MVP : Trent Bryant (2018) – Fort Dorchester HS (pictured on front)
Bryant 6’4 post player likes to play on contact and has the ability to finish around the rim. Bryant shoots a high percentage on the foul line and has the ability to hit the 10-12 footer on the floor. Bryant is like one of the ONLY kids not to play football powerhouse Fort Dorchester HS. Bryant finished the evening with a game high 21 points.
Best Offensive Performance : Antoine Parker (2020) – Fort Dorchester HS
Parker was just a junk yard dog on the floor tonight for the Patriots. Parker 6’4 has limited perimeter skills rebounded the ball on both ends of the floor. Parker finished the night with 10 points.
Best Defensive Performance : Latrell Marshall (2019) – Fort Dorchester HS
Marshall took over in the 2nd half with Bryant in the paint. Marshall caused fits for the Stags in the paint and played with some toughness and swag. Marshall wasn’t afraid to chat it up from time to time. Marshall scored 11 points in the game.
Best Athletes : Ishan White and DeAndre Bryan (2019) – Berkeley HS
White and Bryan both juniors are 2 RAW talents. White 6’5 rim-runner fouled out after scoring 4 points. White leaves his feet on everything trying to block shots. Bryan has incredible length and just glides all over the floor. Bryan 6’6 is still learning how to play the game.
Best College Prospect : Ephraim Butler (2018) – Berkeley HS
Butler struggled here tonight for the Stags and finished with 9 points in the loss. Butler recently came off a big game vs Summerville HS in which he scored 35 points. Butler must improve on perimeter shooting for the college level. Butler sees the floor well and has the ability to get the ball into the gaps.
D’angelo Knight wasn’t here tonight for the Patriots. Knight a Georgia State football recruit is getting ready for the North-South Football Game.
DJ Chisholm (2019) led the Stags in scoring tonight with 12 points. Chisholm 5’8 had 68 receptions – 1,121 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. Chisholm is receiving solid football recruitment.
