Week 2: Games to watch
While Week 1 in the Kansas City area was a little light on game action, here is what is on tap for Week 2.
Rockhurst at. Lee’s Summit North
Date: Tuesday (Nov. 28)
Two teams that are poised for a breakout season will meet up on Tuesday at Rockhurst in what will be the season-opener for both programs. Rockhurst features a deep and talented team returning to the court, while the Broncos feature several talented guards as well as a quality big man.
Players to Watch
Rockhurst: Xavier Rhodes (6’1, G, 2018), Glen McClintock (6’1, G, 2019), Daylen Ridgnal (6’4, F, 2019), Jake Thompson (6’0, G, 2018).
Lee’s Summit North: Javaunte Hawkins (5’10, G, 2019), Logan Jenkins (6’3, SG, 2018), Mikel Henderson (5’11, G, 2019), Elijaf Farr (6’7, F, 2018).
Liberty at Fort Osage
Date: Friday
If you think you recognize some of the Fort Osage names from the fall, you probably do — nearly the entire Indian lineup was a part of a FO football team that put together a big season, led by 2019 wing Ty Baker and others. Liberty meanwhile graduates several key players from a 20-win season a year ago, but returns one of the KC area’s premier players in Washburn signee Jalen Lewis.

Fort Osage: Ty Baker (6’2, G, 2019)
Raytown vs. Kickapoo
Date: 8:30 p.m. on Thursday
Location: at Arvest Tournament, Parkview High School Springfield, Mo.
This will be a huge early-season test for a young Kickapoo team as the Chiefs get an opportunity to take on a rugged, battle tested Raytown team. The Blue Jays return several key contributors from a 20-win team, but will have to replace some key personnel in its backcourt.

Raytown: Mason Fair (6’5, PF, 2018), Devin Drew (6’4, PF, 2018), Robert Proctor (6’0, PG, 2018).
Kickapoo: Tanner Oetting (6’1, G, 2019), Sam Wallin (6’2, F/G, 2018), Anton Brookshire (6’0, PG, 2021).
St. Joseph Lafayette vs. Lafayette
Date: 4 p.m. Thursday
Location: at Arvest Tournament, Parkview High School Springfield, Mo.
Lafayette is led by one of the Kansas City area’s premier players in 2018 point guard Diego Bernard, who has signed to play at NCAA Division II Northwest Missouri State. But from there, the xx are looking to a whole new cast as they lose key players Caleb Bennett and forward Sterling Hicks to graduation. Lafayette, of St. Louis, will be a tough match-up for the Irish as they feature size, toughness but graduated several talented players as well, including leading scorer Adam Flinn and Jake Messer, among others.
