Tim Finke to Grand Canyon University
While other prospects have been more public with their recruitments and taking visits over the last few months things had been very quiet with one top 5 prospect. That was Champaign Central 2018 shooting guard Tim Finke. Recently he went on an under the radar official visit to Grand Canyon and fell in love with it. Today he made his commitment to play his college basketball there for former NBA player Dan Majerle.
“Grand Canyon was perfect in all aspects for me. Everything about it just felt right. From the staff, to the players, to the University as a whole. Everything just felt right. I came to peace with it all and couldn’t be happier.”
The big two guard has strength and solid athleticism. As a junior he showed he could really shoot the basketball and is most effective when he is moving away from the ball to set up his shot. Can mix in a few drives off the bounce. Passes it well making crisp dishes to find teammates for open shots. Doesn’t panic when he is double teamed as he has the ability to see over defenders and make the right play. Moves it around the perimeter and finds guys off the drive for open looks. Rebounds well for his position. Finke struggled with injuries during July and some high-major schools fell off, but we have maintained that the school that landed him would get a steal.
He played with Meanstreets where in the spring he averaged 14.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per contest. Finke is the #4 overall prospect in the 2018 class and top shooting guard.
