South Piedmont 3-A Conference Preview
The Southern Piedmont 3-A Conference may be one of the toughest conferences in the state and this year is no different. Here is a look at the the conference for the upcoming season.
- Cox Mill High School-The Chargers return NCBCA Player of the Year Wendell Moore, the top ranked player in the PrepHoopNC 2019 rankings. Also returning is Caleb Stone-Carrawell, a 6-foot-5 wing who has been receiving some college attention. Head Coach Jody Barbee received some news that any high school in the country would be happy to get when Rechon Black announced he would spend his senior season at Cox Mill. A UNC commit, Black is the #3 ranked player in the PrepHoopsNC class of 2018 rankings. The defending state champs have one of the best rosters in the state and are favorites to re-peat.
- Concord High School-The Spiders are on of North Carolina’s top programs over past years, winning two state titles in the last 10 years. This season the Spiders will put the offense in the hands of 6-foot-6 sophomore guard, Jackson Threadgill. The sophomore is one of the top guards in the state. Head Coach Jason Stowe also has 2019 Jaylen O’Neal, a 6-foot-5 forward who averaged nearly 12 points per game last season. Junior point guard Jordan Stowe will be the primary ball-handler and will be relied upon more this season.

Also returning is 6-foot-1 guard Ahmod Hester and his 11 points and 3 assists per outing. The Trojans finished 7-16 last season and will look to improve upon that record this season.
- Jay M Robinson High School-Losing a player of the Lavar Batts caliber and his 23.2 points per game is tough for any team to overcome, but head coach Lavar Batts Sr has some talent left in the Concord school. Returning for the Bulldogs is 6-foot-1 guard Vi’Chon Means who averaged 9.9 points and 3.7 rebounds last season. A youngster who will be one to track is 6-foot-1 guard Isaac Boothe, who averaged 5.8 points per game last season.

Also returning is junior wing Adam Roller who averaged 9.2 points per outing last season.
