Sniper Season: Best Shooters in the 757
In the basketball world, there’s a saying, “shooters will shoot.” Here we take a look at the best shooters on the peninsula.
Cam Thomas | 6’1 G | Oscar Smith
Without a doubt, Cam Thomas is the best shooter in the 757 area. The 6’1 sophomore can and is willing to shoot from anywhere on the floor. Holding several Division 1 offers, Thomas’s stock continues to rise. To be a younger guard, Thomas is one of the most poised guards in the entire state and is a nightmare for any defense.
Kavon James | 5’11 G | Cox
Kavon James is a sharpshooter with incredible range! Cox has went from under the radar to a 757 three point connoisseur. With his excellent court vision, James can easily find his spot, and shoot, making him one of the best three point shooters across the water. Once he is hot, the rest is history. James, who is also a defensive specialist, maybe one of the best two players the 757 has to offer.
Joe Bryant, Jr. | 6’2 PG | Lake Taylor
Joe Bryant Jr is one third of the triple threat at Lake Taylor. Alongside Dereon Seabron, one of the best bigs in the 757, and Jalen Jordan, another 757 sniper, Bryant is a shooter with deep range that can and will hurt an opposing team when necessary. “Little Joe” as he is commonly known as, he is the energy of an athletic Lake Taylor squad.
Caleb Dawkins | 6’2 SG/PG | Grassfield
Caleb, the brother of former Duke, now D-league player, Andre Dawkins is making a name for himself. Dawkins has developed a three point shot in the last year that has made him one of the best shooters in the area. A clutch player, Dawkins is one who is not afraid to take the big shot late game. Look forward to the high scoring guard to continue to not only shoot the jumper, but drive past defenders to the cup this season.
Antwan “AJ” Epps Jr.| 5’10 PG | Bishop Sullivan
A new edition to Bishop Sullivan, AJ is a lefty guard with a high basketball IQ and a sweet stroke. In edition to his ability to shoot the mid-range jumper, Epps is also scary from deep, making him one of the best guards in the 757. With the move to Bishop Sullivan, you can expect Epps to make his presence known early with his new squad.
Brandon Cline | 6’2 PG, SG, PF | Kellam
Able to play multiple positions on the court, Cline is the type of player any coach would want on their squad. Cline is good without the ball in his hands, and with it, is able to knock down long range shoots in transition, while the players above him are more of catch and shoot style players. His timing and shot release is to near perfection, and like many of the 757 snipers, he is willing to take the big shot if need be.
Antwan Miles | 5’10 PG, SG | Phoebus
Antwan Miles is all around one of the best players in the 757. A shooting specialist from any point of the floor, Miles can score from the inside or the outside, and will lock up some of the best on defense, allowing him on the list of best two way players in the state. Leading the Phoebus backcourt, much can and should be expected of Miles in his senior season.
Cle’von Greene | 6’2 PG | Williamsburg Christian
Cle’von Greene hasn’t always been a shooter. He has recently added a jumper to his list of skills and his stock has risen because of it. Greene who recently signed his Letter of Intent with Radford University should still be expected to have a stellar senior season.
