Skill Coach Evaluation: G Evan Sigler (2018)
There might not be a better catch-and-shoot shooter in the state of Tennessee this fall than Franklin senior Evan Sigler. The form never wavers. From release point down to the deck Sigler replicates his shooting stroke every single time.
Shooting Specialist Robert Klym, who has trained Sigler “extensively for the past three years” discussed Evan Sigler’s game at length with PrepHoops.com.
“We started working together the summer before his freshman season, but it was just a time or two a week,” shared Coach Robert Klym. “During Christmas break of his sophomore season he was not shooting very well, so he and his father came to me and we have been in the gym multiple times a week ever since.”
Results
“During his last 16 games of his sophomore season he went 33-80 (41.3%) from beyond the arc,” said Coach Klym. “He followed that up last year by making 86 3-pointers at a 42% clip.”
There are teams in Tennessee that didn’t knock down 86 three-pointers last season. Sigler tallied that startling figure by his lonesome.
“He is a consistently good shooter, not a streaky shooter and not up and down,” said Coach Klym. “If you removed his two worst shooting performances last year he was just a hair under 44% for the season (3 pters).”
9 made 3’s, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for @SiglerEvan in a tough OT loss Tues night. Proud of him for “pounding the stone”, fans see all the made 3’s in the game; few are aware of the hours he dedicated Sat&Sun to form shooting and working to tighten up his mechanics. #madenotborn pic.twitter.com/ZRek7sedMS

The Franklin Rebels feature a guard-oriented attack with Evan Sigler, Reese Glover, and Jack Patton. Generally Evan and Reese generate the points.
"Evan (@SiglerEvan )can knock down probably better than I can. It is really great to have somebody that can score on a consistent basis to take the pressure off me," said Reese Glover. @wcsFHSHoops

“He finished second on his team in scoring last year at 17 ppg, and also finished second in rebounding, third in assists and lead his team in steals,” said Coach Klym.
Franklin High School relies upon Evan Sigler for leadership and delivery.
“He has worked very hard the last two years on the athletic performance aspects of his game,” said Coach Klym. “I believe his best days athletically are still ahead of him.”
Character Witness
“Off the court he is tremendous student and person,” said Coach Klym. “Not sure of his exact GPA, but it is over 4.25 on a 4.00 scale and all of his classes are AP classes.”
Keep in mind most elite students also register strong standardized test scores, but not all. There are a sprinkling of hard-working, low-performing test takers in the country. Evan Sigler is not one of them.
“He has a 33 ACT score,” said Coach Klym. “He is deeply involved in his church and also does volunteer work in his remaining free time. I am sure you hear these things all of the time, but this kid is the complete package.”
The shooting coach really gushed in detail about Sigler’s character.
A prominent high school coach once received a call from an NBA team about one of his former players. After the standard questions were asked the NBA rep asked the coach, ‘Would you let your daughter marry him?’ The high school coach said he had never been asked about a player in those terms and it really made him stop and think. I can tell you unequivocally that if I had a daughter, (then) Evan Sigler is the type of kid I would want her to bring home.
Standing 6-foot-2, Evan Sigler is still growing in to his body, in the eyes of Coach Klym. With a baby-face, Sigler can look small and less imposing, but with continued work in the weight room his body can fill out even more.
“Some school is going to be lucky enough to get a kid who is a solid all-around player, an elite level shooter, who body has not fully matured, who is going to work harder than anyone on their team, who is going to be a beacon of academic achievement and who is going to live his day-to-day life and make life decisions that will positively reflect the values of that university or college.”
On a final point there is no equivocation from Williamson County coaches and players.
“You will not find a better catch and shoot shooter in middle Tennessee.”
